User Research on Scientific Data Analysis

As the size of scientific data expands rapidly, scientists need new data analysis tools that support large scale analysis. The first step for building such tools is to understand users’ data analysis workflow and mental model.

As part of my summer internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, I initiated user research for understanding scientists’ data analysis workflow and mental model. I also laid out a research plan for further inquiries.

I presented the research results and plan at an LBNL poster session.
